Psoriasis is a serious disease that often brings physical and emotional hardships. Painful skin lesions that can be extensive, including on the face, hands and feet. Psoriatic arthritis that can bring crippling joint pain and disability to people in the prime of their lives. Feelings of helplessness, depression, despair. Psoriasis is associated with increased risk of heart attacks and diabetes, and severe psoriasis shortens life expectancy by an average of four years. So why is the annual federal investment in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis research just one dollar per patient?
The Psoriasis Walk is designed to change that. Walk participants will raise vital funds for Psoriasis Cure Now’s campaign to drive psoriasis research higher.
The Walk is at Charlotte's beautiful Freedom Park Amphitheater (1900 East Blvd.) on Saturday, October 24th, 2010. [Click here for a map.] Registration starts at 7:45 am, and the Walk starts at 9 am. We'll also have refreshments, fun give-aways, and information about psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and their treatments. Perhaps best of all, we’ll come together with others battling psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and make some new friends, while we educate the public about these diseases and raise money to fight for a cure.
